The Process

Calm, clear, and thoughtfully guided

A well-designed report starts with a thoughtful, well-organized process.

1. Content Review

First, I’ll review your final content, images, and brand assets together to make sure everything is ready for design.

2. Design

Once everything is ready, I’ll begin developing the design based on your brand guidelines and the needs of the report. You’ll receive the first design draft as a PDF.

3. Review & Revisions

Once you’ve had a chance to review the first draft, you can share your feedback with me. To keep the process clear and efficient, I ask that feedback be consolidated into one set of comments. We’ll work through up to three rounds of revisions to refine the design together.

4. Delivery

Once the design is approved, I’ll prepare the final files and send everything to you via Dropbox.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about report and editorial design, from the process and deliverables to working together.

How do you handle confidential information for reports?

I understand that reports—including annual reports and other organizational publications—may contain sensitive financial, business, or pre-market information. I treat client materials as confidential and only use them for the purposes of the project. I take care to limit access to confidential materials and only share project files with the people directly involved in the project. I’m happy to sign an NDA or follow your organization’s confidentiality requirements when needed.

Can you work directly from our existing Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and data?

Yes. I can work from your existing content and data, including Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, tables, charts, and other source materials. I’ll use these materials to develop the publication’s visual hierarchy, structure, and editorial design while keeping your content and brand requirements in mind.

How do you collaborate when multiple stakeholders are reviewing a report design?

I typically send PDF proofs for review and work with one designated point of contact who collects feedback from the wider team and sends me consolidated comments. This helps keep revisions organized and avoids conflicting feedback from multiple stakeholders.

What is your typical turnaround time for a report design project?

The total timeline is typically 3–4 weeks, depending on the length, complexity, and readiness of your content. For a standard 24–28-page report, the timeline generally looks like this:

Initial Design Draft: 7–10 business days once all finalized text, data, and brand materials are received.

Review & Revision Rounds: An additional 5–10 business days to incorporate feedback through the three included rounds of revisions and deliver the final, publication-ready files.

Can you help make complex data easier to understand?

Yes. I can design charts, infographics, diagrams, and other visual elements that make information easier to follow while staying consistent with your brand.

Do you design digital reports as well as print publications?

Yes. I can prepare reports for both print and digital distribution. Digital reports can be delivered as polished, web-ready PDFs, while print files can be prepared according to your printer’s specifications. If you’re looking for a fully interactive report or microsite, we can discuss the project requirements and determine what support would be needed.

Can you work with our existing brand guidelines?

Absolutely. I can work within your existing brand system and translate it into a cohesive report, while thoughtfully adapting typography, layout, hierarchy, and visual elements to suit the content.

How is a report project priced?

Each project is quoted based on the scope, including page count, content complexity, design requirements, and timeline. Once I understand what you need, I'll provide a clear project estimate before we begin.

What happens if the page count changes significantly?

The initial estimate is based on the agreed scope and approximate page count. If the content or page count changes significantly, I'll discuss the impact with you before moving forward with any additional work.
